KUALA LUMPUR - 'I joined politics because I want to clean up politics,' is the reaction of the Muar incumbent MP seat Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman regarding the High Court's decision here on Friday.

Syed Saddiq said he was not afraid at all and would make the most of this opportunity.

"Regardless of threats and bribes, it will not weaken my spirit and principle to fight and defend the people.

"In this chapter, the time has come for me to be given the opportunity to testify under oath in court after this and to call the witnesses for the defense," he said.

He said this in a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur High Court compound here on Friday.

He said the trial after this would be used to clear his name.

"The truth will be clarified to tell the real story from my side," he said.

On Friday, Syed Saddiq was ordered to defend himself by the High Court here on Friday on four charges of abetting breach of trust, misappropriation of property and money laundering (AMLA).
