GE15: Perak BN aims to win 40 seats
SHAH ALAM - Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad announces their goal to win 40 seats in the State Assembly during the state poll to be held concurrently with the 15th General Election (GE15).
He said it is not an impossible task considering the dynamic of the voters and their demand for a stable government, as well as the strength of the party.
“Confidence (of Perak BN) to form the government is not an impossibility because the voters are now very dynamic and want a stable government, and BN must form a government based on the strength of its own party,” he said when met after the state Deepavali celebration at Sungai Siput, today.
In order for a simple majority to form the government, the 59-seat Perak state assembly needs the backing of 30 assemblymen.
Before it was dissolved on October 17, the Perak state assembly included 25 BN assemblymen, 15 DAP assemblyman, five Amanah assemblymen, four Bersatu assemblymen, three each from PAS, PKR, and PBM, and one independent.
He, who is also the caretaker of Perak Menteri Besar, added that the Federal Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2022 involving the Anti-Party Hopping in Perak only applies to the Parliament members.
“We (State Assembly) didn’t have time to present the bill involved so it will not be applicable in the Perak State Assembly,” he said. - BERNAMA
