SHAH ALAM - The people must not give in to political fatigue and cast their vote on the polling day because it is their responsibility as Malaysians.

Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Associate Professor Soo Wincci urged people to not let their political fatigue stop them from coming out to vote despite it being obvious that voter fatigue has not stopped since the 14th General Election (GE14) and the Sheraton Move.

She said the people’s comments on social media were enough to show how tired they were of political instability these past few years even as political parties were changing strategies.

“If you see the rakyat’s comments, you can see that they are about the same thing and they are so tired," she said during Sinar Daily’s Wacana English Edition programme on Friday.

Besides Soo, political analyst Associate Professor Mohd Azizuddin Mohd Sani and BowerGroupAsia senior analyst Arinah Najwa also sat as the panellists on the show discussing on the 15th General Election (GE15), the voter turnout, contesting candidates and campaigning period.

Soo said Malaysians should come out and vote on the polling day no matter how tired they were (with politics) as it will make a difference for the country if they cast their votes.

Giving up on the country right now was not an option, she added.

“But for one, we cannot be tired because this is our country. No matter how tired we are, just go and make your move. It does make a difference, it is like recycling if everyone does it then the world will be without pollution but you need to put in effort.

Meanwhile, the nomination date falls on Nov 5 and early voting has been fixed on Nov 15.
