#QuranTime provides opportunity to improve fluency in Quran recitation
SHAH ALAM - Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation (WUIF) was established eight years ago to help Muslims have a deeper understanding of the contents of the Quran.
Its founder Datuk Hussamuddin Yaacub said the approach to combine the concept of reciting the Quran and contemplating (tadabbur) on it through the My #QuranTime programme had made it easier for many in learning the Quran.
"The movement started because this is what I wanted to do for myself, because previously I was not fluent in Quran recitation.
"I thought only I had this problem, but it turns out that there are still many out there who could not recite the Quran properly.
"Many like me, needed to be saved, that is why such movement was established to save the ummah.
“In the beginning, we wanted people to love and have interest in reciting the Quran and Alhamdulillah maybe through this approach presented by the qari (a person who recites the Quran with the proper rules of recitation) and pentadabbur, it could make many people have interest to further deepen their knowledge about the book revealed by Allah SWT," he told Sinar Harian.
He said this during a press conference in regards with the My #QuranTime 2.0 programme at the Karangkraf Complex on Tuesday.
Commenting on the programme, Husammuddin said it would provide a more detailed and in-depth learning than before.
"In My #QuranTime 1.0, we did one page a day for taddabur, we hope in the second season we could move towards having an even more deeper understanding.
"We will introduce new elements that are memorisation and practice (to memorise the Quran) with the best methods through prayers.
"If they could memorise it, at least three or four verses could be used in prayers throughout the day," he said.
He said the foundation was in the process of building a studio at the Karangkraf Complex complete with special equipment for the My #QuranTime 2.0 programme this time.
"The studio capacity is expected to be able to cater 40 to 50 participants each episode.
"Throughout the making of My #QuranTime we received infaq funds and it is time we use those funds for the benefit of the participants," he said.
