SHAH ALAM – MCA fully supports former Bentong MP Tan Sri Liow Tiong Lai

Tiong Lai’s candidacy to reclaim its previous seat in the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15).

MCA President Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong said that all MCA members have pledged to support the former Transport Minister’s decision to contest again and seize the area for Barisan Nasional (BN).

“MCA has decided to support Liow’s re-candidacy for the past year and a half, and he is the most qualified MCA candidate for the P089 Bentong constituency,” Wee said in a statement.

He said that despite failing to defend Bentong in GE14, Liow remained loyal and continued to provide services in the area, where he even continued to help the people of Bentong either during the flood disaster or the big fire in Karak.

Wee said Liow had always been on the front line to help in settlement and reconstruction efforts for the victims.

“When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, Liow also worked tirelessly to collect funds and goods to help the people.

“From then until now, he has always maintained good relations with local associations and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and even other BN component parties, as well as always listening to and solving the problems of the people.”

Wee said that many voters had openly expressed a strong desire for Liow to return as their representative due to his contribution to Bentong during his four terms as the MP.

In addition, Wee also expressed regret at DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke’s statement that the DAP party would collect ‘bullets’ to help DAP Bentong’ shoot’ Liow to the ground, while describing it as an arrogant and sad statement, which came out of the mouth a leader who does not respect the doctrine of democracy.

“All MCA members will provide undivided support to ensure Liow’s victory in Bentong, so that he can carry out unfinished plans and tasks, bring prosperity to the people and return the development of Bentong to the right track.”
