SHAH ALAM – Parti Sosialis chairman, Dr Michael Jeyakumar Devaraj has been summoned by Bukit Aman’s classified criminal investigation unit (D5) to give his statement over a contentious remark made at the "Dark Forces Towards GE15" forum.

Jeyakumar's summoning was a continuation of the police's probe over the "failed Malay government" remark said by former attorney-general Tommy Thomas.

He said was asked to give his statements by an Inspector from Bukit Aman through a phone call, two days ago.

He however insisted that it was inappropriate for the police to do so via a phone call and instead implored Bukit Aman to send him an official letter as per the law.

“It’s a waste of time since they first started to ask by a phone call then I asked them to send a proper official letter,” he said in a phone call with Sinar Daily.

“I expect nothing much, they will just ask questions as nothing controversial was said by Tommy Thomas before, he was just expressing opinions and making suggestions," Jeyakumar claimed.

“Even though some parties are blowing and trying to fire it up, I expect no degrading questions as they will just taking statements,” he added.

Both Jeyakumar and Thomas were panellists at the forum.

The other panellists at the forum were human rights lawyer and activist Siti Kasim, DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang and Gerak Independent co-founder Tawfik Ismail.
