GE15: Syed Saddiq forgives 'Mat Motors' for causing a stir at his function

SHAH ALAM - The Democratic Alliance of Malaysia (Muda) president, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman forgives a group of youngsters who provoked and heckled him during his talk in Muar last Sunday.

In a post on Facebook today, Syed Saddiq maintained that the group was not his enemy.

"I am here to defend you, not go against you. To those young people, you are not my enemy, I forgive you," he said.

Previously, a group of young people had cause a stir at a function attended by Syed Saddiq by heckling the chant 'fraud', followed up by a noisy revving of motorcycles.

However, the disturbance was cut short when a group of Muda party supporters prevented the hecklers with the aid from the police which formed a barricade to prevent them from entering the tent.

Syed Saddiq at the same time insisted that his side was doing their best for the future of the young generation in the country.

"I understand that more than 71 per cent of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) graduated refuse to continue their studies at institutes of higher learning (IPTs) because by even if they were to become graduates; salaries are still low and they needed to bear the burden of expensive student debt.

"I also understand when two-thirds of young people are willing to leave the country for other jobs because there are no dignified jobs for them in Malaysia.

"That's why I want to help all of you to get a job and a better standard of living so that one day we can live in a better Malaysia," he said.

Syed Saddiq also said that his side is also trying to give the best to help Muar people.

"That's why during the Covid-19 season, my group and I always try to get quality laptops for Muar children who are cut off from online education and also get hundreds of thousands of ringgit for National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN) scholarships for families in need," he explained.

He said, all aid was channeled and given regardless of religion, race and political beliefs.

"Even if you are against me, I still respect you and will aid you because help must be given regardless of political affiliation," he added.
