KUALA LUMPUR - Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan hopes to defend the Kota Bharu seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).

“The party has yet to decide the candidacy, hopefully not other seats than Kota Bharu. If I am elected, I’ll be there," he said.

When asked about Pas using its own logo instead of Perikatan Nasional’s (PN), Takiyuddin said Pas had obtained the approval from PN and will continue to use its logo.

"So far we have received the green light from PN for Pas to use its own logo in the states administered by Pas which are Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah.

“The PN chairman said he understood the rationale of Pas requesting to use its own logo," he said.

Takiyuddin who is also the incumbent Kota Bharu MP said he had no problem using the party's own flag to contest in GE15.

He said using the Pas logo was a strategy at the state level.

"That is not a problem. If we look at the Johor state election, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) used its own logo even though it is a component member of Pakatan Harapan (PH).

"So it's up to the coalition, if the coalition allows the party to use its own logo they definitely can," he said.

The caretaker Energy and Natural Resources Minister said this after attending the Forestry 121 Peaks closing ceremony in conjunction with the Peninsular Malaysia Forestry Department’s 121st Anniversary celebration at Dataran Batai, Taman Eko Rima, here, today.
