JAKARTA - Indonesian fugitive Apin BK, who is allegedly running an illegal online gambling operation in the country, was arrested in Malaysia and brought back to Jakarta on Friday.

He has been arrested with the close cooperation of the Royal Malaysia Police, according to Indonesia’s National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

"This arrest is our commitment to eradicating illegal online gambling in the country,” Listyo Sigit said in a press conference.

Apin BK was flown back on a commercial airline by Indonesian police last night and immediately taken to the Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

On Aug 9, he managed to escape to Singapore when North Sumatra Police raided the online gambling bookies premises at the Cemara Asri Complex, in Deli, Serdang.
