DAP sticks to decision not to dissolve Penang State Legislative Assembly
PETALING JAYA - The Democratic Action Party (DAP) top leadership has rejected the Penang state government’s request to dissolve its State Legislative Assembly.
Its secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook had announced that the party will stick to its gun on the non-dissolution.
He said there will be no dissolution until next year which was more conducive to hold elections, especially after the monsoon season.
"I have to disappoint my own people in Penang because I am aware of the backlash that we might face in not dissolving Selangor and Negeri Sembilan State Assemblies.
"There are different decisions between the Pakatan Harapan (PH) states and that will be a weapon for our enemies to portray PH as divided and unable to make decisions proactively," he said.
Loke admitted the consequences and insisted that he was not willing to give the ammunition to the other party.
Today, PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Loke and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu gathered at the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) headquarters for a special presidential council meeting.
The meeting was to discuss about a few important things including the manifesto, logo and the decision of three PH states to postpone the dissolution.
