PONTIAN - Pontian Umno division has proposed Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to be the 10th prime minister if Barisan Nasional wins the coming general elections.

Division chief Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad said the motion was one of three unanimously decided at its meeting today.

Umno Secretary-General Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan was also present, he said.

"For us, Ismail Sabri's assurance as Prime Minister is more appropriate and accurate than just being BN's 'poster boy'," he said.

The media on Sept 18 reported that Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the BN Chairman has confirmed that Ismail Sabri remains the 'poster boy' and BN's prime ministers candidate in GE15.

In the meantime, Hasni who is also the Johor Barisan Nasional Chairman said the two other proposals put forward by the division were to support a candidate decided by the leadership and to ensure the solidarity of party members.

"Undivided support for any party candidate is crucial.

"Pontian Umno also proposed that solidarity between party members needs to be strengthened and we need to move together to win whoever the party puts forward, even if it is from our component party," he said.
