IPOH - Gerakan will feature 80 percent of new candidates from various races and background in the 15th General Election (GE15).

Its president Datuk Dominic Lau Hoe Chai said those with the potential to win will be selected as candidates.

"We will look for winnable candidates that can win and are acceptable to the people. This is the criteria that will be considered for GE15," he told reporters at a press conference at Wisma Gerakan Perak here on Saturday.

Also present at the press conference were Gerakan Deputy President Oh Tong Keong and Perak Gerakan Chairman Datuk See Tean Seng.

On seat distribution, Dominic Lau said the matter is almost finalised.

Gerakan, he said is expected to compete for more seats than in the last general election.

For example in Perak, he said, Gerakan will not only contest in Taiping, Teluk Intan and Beruas Parliamentary seats but it will also contest in other non-traditional seats.

"However, we cannot announce the number of seats yet and where we will contest because it will be announced together with PN friends.

"We have already made thorough preparations to face GE15," he said.
