The annual three-day Protune programme organised by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) in collaboration with the state Education Department, which started yesterday, was also attended by 70 students from the PKNS BizClub.
PKNS chief executive officer Datuk Mahmud Abbas when speaking at the opening of the programme today said Protune is one of the entrepreneurship programmes provided by PKNS as real-life training for students to produce a new generation of young entrepreneurs.
"On that basis, PKNS continues the legacy of this initiative with a real business environment to give students exposure to interact and communicate directly with buyers in public to polish their entrepreneurial skills.
"For example today, we can see various types of business products being offered including food and beverage products, services, agriculture and also creative products, participated by each school group of three students mentored by a teacher," he said.
He said Protune, which was first introduced in 1998, involved Form 1, 2 and 4 students,
He said each school needs to establish and register a company under PKNS whereby, this year, the students are required to carry out business activities in their school for eight months starting in April.
"Apart from providing a learning space for entrepreneurship through Protune, PKNS also provides training courses to improve the quality of Protune participants through monitoring and visits to the schools involved," he said.
Mahmud said PKNS is optimistic that the programme will succeed in achieving the cultural objectives set and record success with a sales value target of RM200,000 throughout the three days of the programme. - BERNAMA
