PUTRAJAYA - The government has agreed to declassify and reveal the investigation report over the claims made in the book entitled "My Story: Justice in The Wilderness" by former attorney-general Tan Sri Tommy Thomas.

Caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in a statement today said the report will be made known to the public.

"Two special task forces have tabled the investigation report over the claims made in the book as well as the report reviewing laws relating to the sovereignty of Batu Puteh (Pedra Branca), Batuan Tengah (Middle Rocks) and Tubir Selatan (South Ledge) in the cabinet meetings on Sept 30 and Oct 7,” he said.

Previously, the police confirmed receiving a report regarding the spread of the report on Thomas’ book which was uploaded on a website.

On Friday, Ismail Sabri instructed for further investigations to be carried out immediately by related enforcement agencies to investigate the possibility of any misconduct by Thomas.

In the statement, Ismail Sabri said the cabinet agreed to take necessary actions to defend the sovereignty of the country and proceed with its review bid at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over Batu Puteh, Batuan Tengah and Tubir Selatan.

"The meeting was informed on the possibility of negligence and mistake of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad when Malaysia missed the opportunity to file a review application against ICJ’s judgement in 2008 and request for interpretation of Batu Puteh, Batuan Tengah and Tubir Selatan after Dr Mahathir decided not to proceed with the review bid and interpretation of the judgment on June 11, 2018,” he said.

He said recommendations for the government's direction and improvement suggested by the special task force through both reports were transparent, neutral and inclusive considering the results of analysis, research and observations by the members of the team.

"The Implementation of the special task force as a whole explained the commitment of the government to have the best solutions regarding the matter for the sake of the well-being of Keluarga Malaysia,” he said
