SHAH ALAM - Voters are urged to not boycott the 15th General Election (GE15) as it would favour those who are hoping for a low voter turnout.

PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil said everyone needed to play their role for the coming general election to build a stronger Malaysia.

He called on all voters to go out and vote as the people were the ones who could change the country’s future.

“They want us to feel sad and lose hope in democracy but our vote is our right, we are able to change the future of the country, so let’s go out and vote,” he said on his social media platform.

He noted that some people might be dismayed by incidents like the Sheraton Move which resulted in the fall of the Pakatan Harapan government in 2020.

However, he assured that such incidents would not happen again as the constitution prohibits MPs from jumping parties.

“If there is a misunderstanding that the Sheraton Move (incident) would repeat, it could not, it could not, it could not happen again,” he said.

Fahmi, who represented Lembah Pantai in the previous Parliament said those who were 18 and above could vote as they have been automatically registered as voters.

He said they could check their voting details through the Election Commission's (EC) website or the MySPR Semak application.

“Tell your friends in your circle that the Parliament has been dissolved and an election will be held, so let's go out and vote.

“Don’t give up because we want to see a better Malaysia that is fair, more credible, more energetic and always prepared in facing challenges,” he said.

On Monday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the dissolution of Parliament to pave way for the GE15, which must be held within 60 days of the dissolution.
