GE15: Selangor Umno to submit candidate names soon

TANJONG KARANG - Selangor Umno will submit their list of candidates for the 15th General Election (GE15) from its 22 divisions to the party leadership soon.

Selangor Umno Liasion chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar said, the list consisted of five candidates for each parliamentary and state consistuencies.

"Some of the divisions will have six names, including the incumbent," he said.

Moreover, Noh said whether Umno or Barisan Nasional (BN) should stand on their own or cooperate with other parties in the GE15, it was all up to the leadership.

He added, they (Selangor Umno) will launch its machinery at the divisional and branch level soon.

Noh told the media after officiating the opening of the Tanjong Karang Umno Wanita annual general meeting here today.

Previously it was reported that Umno state liaison state liaison committees will submit their list of candidates to the party's 'Top Five' for consideration starting on Monday.

The 'Top Five' refers to Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and the party's three vice presidents namely Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid. -- Bernama
