GE15: Umno's upper echelons to meet tomorrow night
Mohamad Amreel Iman Abd MalekSHAH ALAM - Umno Supreme Council is expected to hold a special meeting tomorrow night amid fierce talk of parliament dissolution.
Citing the sources, Malay Mail reported that the meeting was called following rumors about the dissolution of parliament which is expected to be made this week.
"Tomorrow night (Monday), there will be a special meeting involving the Umno Supreme Council," said the source when contacted by the publication.
He said, the meeting is expected to take place after the party's political bureau meeting in the evening.
The source further said the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was said to be under pressure to hasten the 15th General Election (GE15) as the party's leadership were confident in winning the national poll.
Umno had a few weeks ago resoundingly called for parliament to be dissolved to pave way for GE15 despite criticisms from the opposition and their political allies over the dangers of having an election in the monsoon season.
The Bagan Datuk MP however retorted that the concerns expressed by the naysayers were mere cover ups; that in reality they feared that voters might reject them in GE15.
