KOTA KINABALU - Ceaseless rain that had been pouring over five hours has inundated several parts of Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, Kinarut and Papar today.

In Kota Kinabalu the flash flood hit Jalan Sulaman, Jalan Tebobon and Jalan Salut; whereas in Penampang it was Bulatan Siga and Lido roads and almost the entirety of Kinarut and Papar.

According to Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operation Centre there were nine residents from Kampung Mansiang, Manggatal, were trapped after their houses were flooded and had to be moved to a safer area.

However, temporary evacuation centres have to be opened as of 8PM.

Meanwhile, Papar Fire and Rescue Station informed that a landslide had occurred near Sekolah Kebangsaan Langkawit, but the school building was not affected.

"The collapse involved the nearby hill land and only involved the area of ​​nearby residents' houses but was not critical.

"Only one house is threatened but no evacuation has been done and so far the fire department has advised residents to move to a safe area," he told Sinar Harian.
