GEORGE TOWN - Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Penang Chapter describes the Budget 2023 as a helpful incentive in boosting the tourism industry, especially in Penang.

MAH Penang Chapter chairman Tony Goh said that incentives in the form of discounts, vouchers and rebates announced during Budget 2023 would benefit the local tourism sector.

"I believe that the incentives in the form of discounts, vouchers and rebates announced by the government will boost the domestic tourism sector and increase more charted flights, " he told Bernama today.

However, Goh said that the RM10 billion in loan funds that have been announced in Budget 2023 could be better if it's in the form of tax incentives.

"I view that the loan amount made available through Bank Negara would be better if it is turned into a tax incentive as it could create greater benefits to the tourism sector," he said.
