Dr Rais Hussin leaves Bersatu
NURUL AISYAH MOHD NORSHAH ALAM - Dr Rais Hussin Mohamed Ariff has made his departure from the party he co-founded, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM).
In an official statement, he wrote that his resignation letter was handed in yesterday.
Rais said he has been an inactive party member since 2020 following a heart procedure and has been focused on developing and nurturing the EMIR Research think tank.
"Although I am not a member of PPBM, I will still actively pursue my sturggle for a better Malaysia for the many based on five core principles i.e, reforms, justice, inclusivenes, progressive and wasatiyyah (justly-balanced approach).
"This ws what led me to co-found PPBM then despite the monumental tasks ahead then," he wrote.
Rais also expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all party members whom he has worked with for many years.
He said it has been a very educational and experientual journey from 2015, and have learned so much from this political voyage.
“Must record my appreciation to my party chairman then, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed, who at one time entrusted many of the key responsibilities of building the party and PH coalition prior to GE14.
“Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin, PPBM party President who in many ways understood me better than anyone else in the party, given my passion and drive,” he expressed.
Despite his exit from the party, Rais said he will continue his pathways of speaking truth to the power without fear or favour based on data, science and economics.
