SHAH ALAM - An educationalist has expressed her utmost disappointment on honorary doctorate holders who were charging the public for motivational speeches.

Universiti Teknologi Mara's Associate Professor Soo Wincci insisted that in certain circumstances, education should be provided for free and non-prejudiced.

"I did my motivational coaching in the first year after my PHD and it was completely free of charge.

"Whereas in Malaysia, I came across people who are charging participants for their motivational coaching.

"Why is there a need to do so?," questioned Soo from the Faculty of Music.

Speaking to Sinar Daily, Soo said that in some countries, PHD holders who sell their profession by motivational talks get sued under criminal law.

"People get sued in China for selling things which includes PHD holders charging for motivational talks.

"Education in some ways should be free and non-prejudice.
