S'gor, Penang, Negeri Sembilan state assemblies to be dissolved in 2023, says PH

SHAH ALAM - Selangor, Penang and Negeri Sembilan state assemblies will only be dissolved in 2023, Pakatan Harapan leaders said.

This comes as the Prime Minister is expected to meet the King tomorrow.

In a statement, the Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council leaders added they held a discussion with Selangor and Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar and Penang Chief Minister on dissolving the assemblies.

“The Meteorology Department (MetMalaysia) has stated that the La Nina and the Northeast monsoon phenomenon will cause heavy rainfall and possible flooding in most states,” the leaders said.

The statement was issued by PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Amanah President Mohamad Sabu, DAP Sec-General Anthony Loke and Pertubuhan Kinabalu Progresif Bersatu's (UPKO) Madius Tangau.

They said they are prioritising the rakyat who will be facing tough times ahead.

Anwar said the presidential council accepted the notion made by PH-governed Selangor and Negeri Sembilan and Penang that the state assemblies will be dissolved in 2023.

The date will be announced later.
