SHAH ALAM - A heavy downpour today saw several areas in Kuala Lumpur affected by floods.

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) said the areas affected were Jalan Kuchai Lama, Bukit Jalil, Jalan Bangsar and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim.

Malaysian Meteorology Department (MetMalaysia) had forecasted thunderstorms in several areas in Kuala Lumpur today.

On Sept 29, MetMalaysia warned that the nation will face a monsoon starting Oct 3 til the end of November.

MetMalaysia director-general Muhammad Helmi Abdullah was reported to have said thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rains and strong winds were on the cards.

"Such incidents will be more prominent during the evenings and early hours of the night in the west coast states and the interior parts of the Peninsula, west coast of Sabah and central parts of Sarawak.

"This weather pattern could potentially trigger flash floods and damage unstable structures," he had said.
