Police identify more suspects in cosmetic agent’s abduction case
SHAH ALAM - Police identify several other suspects from Malaysia in connection with the kidnapping of cosmetics agent Rosnazirah Mohd Naim in Tumpat, Kelantan last month.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said the police were in the midst to confirm the suspect's identities.
"We have managed to identify about two to three suspects from Malaysia.
"However, we need more time to gather information and share it with the respected Thai authorities," he said to the media at the press conference after attending the 75th Marine Police Day celebration at the marine police base in Batu Uban, Pulau Pinang today.
Commenting further, Acryl said the police were still in the process of probing the issue and conducting thorough research for a better picture.
"We humbly request all media to be patient and give us more time so that we can collect the relevant information and establish the true motive of this case," he said.
When asked about the extradition application of the suspects detained in the neighbouring country, Thailand, Acryl said the extradition process would be legally requested.
On Sept 13, 2022, a cosmetic product agent was kidnapped at her home in Tumpat, Kelantan, and was safely rescued and brought home.
Acryl said that the victim was rescued with the assistance and intelligence sharing between the police and its counterpart, the Royal Thai Police who managed to detect the presence of the victim in the country.
He said the police thanked their Thai counterparts and the Malaysian embassy in the country for their assistance and aid in efforts to rescue the victim.
Acryl added seven local men were detained around Kelantan, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur to assist in the investigation of the case and they were investigated in accordance with Section 3 (1) of the Kidnapping Act 1961.
Also seized was a vehicle believed to be used to kidnap the victim.
