Umno leaders, division chiefs gather at WTC KL for special meeting
KUALA LUMPUR: Umno leaders and division chiefs have arrived at the World Trade Centre, here, for the party’s special meeting which is expected to start soon.
It is believed that the special meeting which would be attended by party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob would discuss about the 15th General Election (GE15) which would be high on the meeting agenda, although the specifics are not known.
The leaders and division chiefs arrived at 2pm and many were still making their way into the hall.
Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan when met said today’s special meeting would see 191 division leaders present and he would be the moderator for the day.
When asked what the meeting would discuss on and if it would touch on GE15, he said they would only discuss positive matters.
“We will need to listen to the speeches by Umno president and Prime Minister to know what the meeting is about today.
“We will only discuss positive things,” he said when met by the media.
He also refused to answer if GE15 would be held soon.
He also said that a press conference would be held after the meeting.
“If the president or prime minister cannot attend (the press conference), I will deal with the media,” he said.
At about 2.40pm, Ismail Sabri, Zahid, as well as deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan or Tok Mat, arrived.
