SHAH ALAM – Police will refer the investigation paper related to a book titled My Story: Justice in the Wilderness by Tan Sri Tommy Thomas to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) on Monday.

A statement released by the Federal police confirmed that the investigation paper into the book had been opened and police had recorded the statement of the former Attorney-General (AG).

“In line with the instruction given by Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob) for a further investigation to be made, the investigation paper had been streamlined would be referred back to the AGC on Oct 3 for further instruction,” the statement read.

Previously, Ismail Sabri directed the former attorney-general to be immediately investigated for alleged sedition and several other offences arising from the contents of his controversial memoirs.

Ismail Sabri said the investigations would be conducted under Sections 124(I) and 203A of the Penal Code, Section 4 of the Sedition Act 1948, Section 8 of the Official Secrets Act 1972, and Section 3 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Act 2009.

Among the topics mentioned in the books were allegations against the judiciary; the disclosure of government information and secrets; wrongful acts, abuse, and negligence; as well as seditious statements.

Thomas was appointed as the AG after Pakatan Harapan won the 2018 general election, and resigned after the administration collapsed in February 2020 due to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s resignation as the prime minister.

After the publication of the memoir in January last year, more than 100 police reports were made against him, most of which were by Umno members.
