Kidnapped cosmetic agent in good health, to return to Kelantan

KOTA BHARU - After 17 days of missing a cosmetic products sales agent, Rosnazirah Mohd Naim who was abducted by a group of men was rescued by the police on Thursday.

The story of the 36-year-old victim's abduction was believed to be linked to a drug syndicate that allegedly involved Rosnazirah's husband.

Police have also arrested three individuals including the victim's husband and a woman aged 35 to 47 in connection with a drug smuggling case.

The 36-year-old victim's husband who worked as a fisherman had two previous criminal records, while another man arrested had seven criminal records.

Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said Rosnazirah, who is currently in Kuala Lumpur, was in good health and would be taken back to Kelantan.

"No payment has been made during his disappearance and I am grateful to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) who worked this case.

"Thank you also to the community for understanding this issue by not making any speculation that could hinder the police investigation," he said at a press conference at the Kelantan Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) here on Friday.

On Thursday, Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said Rosnazirah was rescued through cooperation, information sharing and intelligence between the Malaysian police and the Royal Thai Police which managed to trace the location of the victim's whereabouts in the country.

He said seven local men were detained around Kelantan, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur to assist in the investigation of the case and they were investigated in accordance with Section 3 (1) of the Kidnapping Act 1961.

Also seized was a vehicle believed to be used to kidnap the victim.

In the incident on Sept 13, the victim was abducted by a group of men from his home in Kampung Semat Jal, Tumpat at 5.10pm.

The victim was smuggled to the neighbouring country through an illegal base in Kuala Jambu, Tumpat following the discovery of the car used by the suspect.

The police investigation into the registration number of the Toyota Vios vehicle the suspect used also revealed it was a false registration number.

On September 15, Thai police raided a house on the banks of the Golok River in Tak Bai in Narathiwat province in an attempt to track down Rosnazirah.

The raid was made following information obtained that the residence was occupied by one of the suspects.

However, when the raid was carried out, the residence was empty.
