TUMPAT - A total of 733 dhuafa homes were built for asnaf ( the needy) in Kelantan from 2017 until August this year at a cost of RM31.3 million, said Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob.

He said the housing programme clearly proved that the state government is always concerned and committed to providing a comfortable place to live for the asnaf group in the state.

"In 2017, we built 71 (dhuafa) houses, 317 in 2020 and 80 houses each in 2018, 2019 and 2021.

"From January to August this year, a total of 105 houses have been built at a cost of more than RM5.5 million in the 10 districts of this state," he told reporters after attending a ceremony to handover a dhuafa house to a single mother, Rahimah Salleh, 64, from Kampung Kutan, Wakaf Bharu , here today

Commenting further, Ahmad said that through the programe, 3,332 houses of asnaf hade been repaired since 2017, with the cost amounting to RM24.6 million.

"Construction of each (dhuafa) house, which has three rooms, costs RM55,000, In fact allocations under this programme can also be used to repair damaged houses for those in need with as much as RM10,000 provided.

"Among the conditions to be eligible to receive housing assistance through the provisions of this programme is that they must own their own land or the land must have been handed over from their parents or relatives," he said. - BERNAMA
