KUALA LUMPUR - Budget 2023 scheduled to be tabled next Friday must be tabled again in Parliament if the 15th General Election (GE15) if Parliament is dissolved before it is approved by the MPs.

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun said the new government formed after the general elections should retable the bill for the first, second and third reading before it is approved

"If there is an election then there will be a new government. The new government needs to table the budget again.

"It's a budget, and it's not binding (unless approved)," he said while attending a function with the media today.

Azhar said, however, the new government could also use the same draft bill to retable the supply bill.

This comes amid speculation that Parliament may be dissolved after Budget 2023 was tabled on Oct 7.

Meanwhile, when asked if the party would receive notice before the dissolution of Parliament, Azhar said the Dewan Rakyat would not receive any notice.

"The dissolution of Parliament is under the authority of the Prime Minister who will advise the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
