Second woman to lodge report against Ebit Lew, says witness

KOTA KINABALU - Prosecution witness Mohd Fairuz Abu, 37, revealed there was another report lodged at Bukit Aman by a woman on famous preacher Ebit Lew.

Fairuz said this during a cross-examination session by lawyer Ram Singh representing Ebit Irawan Ibrahim also known as Ebit Lew, 37, on the second day of the preacher's trial.

He added that he knew of the police report made but does not have details beyond that.

"The police need to inform on the development of the case. I helped this woman by accompanying her to make the police report, and connecting her to the Multiracial Reverted Muslims (MRM) lawyers.

"I had done what I was able to do," he said during the trial as it esnters the second day at the magistrate's court, here, today.

Fairuz had informed the court that he knew where the report was lodged and was present with the woman as a witness.

"Yes I know it was in Bukit Aman, I even became the witness and gave a statement to the police," he said, adding that the report was lodged on Aug 7, 2021.

Ram questioned the cost for the woman from Tenom to make a police report in Bukit Aman.

"The costs was handled by the MRM, not only for cases like this but for other cases too, Fairuz replied.

He also said there were suggestions for the woman to lodge a police report in Sabah, and the nearest police station was near Tenom.

The morning trial session on the sexual harassment case faced by Ebit Lew was delayed and scheduled to continue at 2.30pm today.

The trial that ends on Friday is conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nor Azizah Mohamad, Muhammad Ilmami Ahmad, Zahida Zakaria, Adibah Saiful Bahri, Nur Masrin Amalia.

Ebit was represented by his lawyers - Ram Singh, Kamarudin Mohmad Chinki, Timothy Daut, Kimberly Ye Wanchuin dan Chen Wen Jye while the Magistrate was Nur Asyraf Zolhani.

Yesterday, Rairuz had told the court what a Woman shared lewd screenshots of her conversation with Ebit Lew. He said the first woman shared with him screenshots of Ebit Lew's conversation with her, as well as pornographic images (of genitals) sent by Ebit via WhatsApp.

Ebit is facing with 11 charges of sexual harassment under Section 509 of the Penal Code for sending lewd pictures and text meant to humiliate the victim through the WhatsApp application.
