KANGAR - It’s on the onus of the government to hold the 15th General Election in the most suitable conditions by taking into account all factors that do not burden the people.
This said, Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim added that he believes the polls will be held next year as it was not suitable to be held during the monsoon season.
"Any responsible government will set a suitable date and time and not burden the people.
“We are concerned about the floods but if the situation is more under controlled then the decision lies in the hands of the Prime Minister and Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
"So (I predict that GE15) maybe next year,” said the PKR President.
Anwar said this in a press conference at the Kangar Parliamentary Service Centre on Saturday night.
On Sept 22, Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi questioned whether the floods were the true reason why opposition parties did not want to face GE15 soon.
He claimed that the opposition had deliberately used the reason as a ploy to avoid having to face the people’s decision.
