SHAH ALAM - Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan denies a viral statement on Supreme Council (MKT) decision to appoint Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as the prime minister candidate for the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.

He said any statement issued without going through the official media channels are false.

"It is easy to know whether it is true or not. If there is a statement is from me, check all my social media channels on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.

"If there isn't, then it's fake. In this world there is always a group of evil and stupid people whose work is only to spread rumours," he said on his Twitter account.

On Friday, a statement went viral on social media informing that Umno supreme council had agreed to choose Zahid, the BN Chairman as the poster boy for the 15th general elections.

The statement also stated that the decision will be discussed and decided in the MKT meeting, next Friday.
