PUTRAJAYA - Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin says Umno is still the same old greedy party and they will remain the enemy of Bersatu as agreed by the component parties of Perikatan Nasional (PN).

He reminded PN component parties to move as a team and further urged them not to issue contradictory statements.

“Bersatu, Pas and Gerakan should not be saying different things because if we do not show our unity, we will lose because the message will not be clear on who our enemy is.

"So, in PN we have an agreement, among the things agreed upon is that our main enemy is Barisan Nasional (BN)," he said when speaking at the Bersatu 6th Anniversary Celebration here, today.

Muhyiddin also said he is proud of Bersatu's progress as a political party although it has only been formed six years ago.

“As the founder of the party, I am proud to say that we already have 202 divisions which I figured is the largest compared to other parties in the country,” he said while adding that they also have recorded over 700,000 registered members.

He said the Malaysians are starting to take interest and support the party to build a good government that focuses on stabilising the country, ensuring a brighter future as well as clearing the corrupt practices done by some individuals.

“We are not in a comfortable state because our country is experiencing political turmoil, the pandemic due to Covid-19 and poverty rate in the country has gone higher.

“We are facing the most challenging time. When I was the prime minister, we faced an unprecedented Covid-19 situation and it impacted our economy although we have transitioned into the endemic," he said.

He further said that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is not doing enough and Bersatu is willing to bear the huge responsibility despite not being the biggest party in the country.

“We are not coward, we dare to carry such huge responsibilities but we are facing a war, and it is about saving the country from falling.

“We need to change the current government after the election, not because I want to become the prime minister but more importantly for PN to remain in power to govern the country to ensure there is food on the table for the people and to uplift women,” he said.

He added PN surely does not take these issues lightly.
