SHAH ALAM – Children Welfare Foundation (Yakek) has urged for the government to get more serious in overcoming child abuse cases by implementing caning and extensive imprisonment to offenders as a drastic step to realise the spirit and aspiration of Keluarga Malaysia.

“Where is the parental value of the children’s guardians? Have they lost their sense of humanity that they can’t differentiate children from objects?.

"A child’s physical capacity is no match to that of an adult. Child abuse cases have gotten worse now,” said its founder Amin Fahmi.

The child welfare agency has also called on the community to be aware of their surroundings and be the eyes and ears of the authorities, he said.

He advised for proactive measures to be taken such as immediately reporting all child abuse and neglect incidents.

Amin reminded the public to take great responsibility of every child and care for them with unconditional love.

This, he said was significantly important for the children's growth and for them to have a meaningful life, become well-rounded leaders who will lead the country in the future.

He said Yakek was determined to play an active role in ensuring the children’s well-being through mediums of advocacy and consultancy services especially involving the interests and rights of children.
