KUBANG PASU - Umno is confident that the voters are on their side as talks on the 15th General Election (GE15) heat up.

Umno vice president Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said this is the most important factor to determine if an election should be held soon.

The party was convinced that the wave was for Pakatan Harapan in GE14 but now the tide was for them.

"But this time, we can see that the wave is for us (BN)," he said during a press conference after launching a community programme, here on Monday.

Umno, he said needs to win more than one state seat out of 15 Parliamentary seat in Kedah. "We need to win more than one seat because if we contribute only one seat from each Parliament it will not be enough to form a government," he said.

Commenting on the strategy to win the northern state, he said Kedah Umno liaison committee deputy chairman Datuk Othman Aziz aims to win one state assembly seat out of every 15 parliamentary seats.

"What is important in elections is the candidate. The candidate must be accepted by the people in the area," he added.
