SHAH ALAM - Selangor government has introduced a special i-Bermusim loan for Indian community businesses for Deepavali in October.

Selangor Housing, Urban Wellbeing and Entrepreneur Development Exco Rodziah Ismail said the loan is for Indian businesses and vendors in the state to set up Deepavali Bazaar booths or at any other locations including at home.

She said the initiative was launched to reduce the burden of businesses especially those who need additional funds.

"Businesses could make the application starting Monday until Oct 14," she said, adding that those operating from the bazaar could apply for loans up to RM20,000 and RM5,000 loan for those operating from home.

"The financing period is up to 25 weeks or six months and repayments could be made weekly," she told reporters here.

Rodziah said other businesses that wanted to apply for the loan had to present supporting documents, including business license from their local authorities.

She said the application could be made online on the Yayasan Hijrah Selangor (Hijrah Selangor) website or at any agency branches throughout the state.

"The i-Bermusim programme was introduced last Ramadan and almost 1,000 businesses benefited from it," she said, further stating they may extend the programme for all seasonal festivals if businesses found it beneficial.

Deepavali falls on October 24.
