Zahid calls for internal party cleansing, amend outdated BN constitution
KUALA LUMPUR - Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has called for the coalition's constitution to be amended again to allow other parties to join the coalition and to cleanse the party of enemies within.
He said the amendments need to be tweaked.
"The seven parties who want to join BN cannot join us because the BN constitution binds them from entering. Because the condition is that if one party rejects any party that (wants) to join, then that cannot be done.
"The BN constitution needs to be amended," he said while inaugurating the 14th Annual General Assembly of the Makkal Sakti Malaysia Party at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Center (WTCKL).
Zahid also questioned why his party had to reject a party that wanted to join and be friends with BN.
"People want to be friends and people want to join. Why should they be rejected?" he said.
In the meantime, Zahid who is also the Bagan Datuk MP said that his party would do some cleaning up within BN and Umno.
"We know that if there is an enemy outside our party, we can identify them easily. If there are betrayers among us, we will know. We do not need more than a glance to see that.
“It won’t be much longer, I repeat, not long. Something must be done to clean the party. We have to do the cleaning from within.
"We don't want foxes in chicken coops. It needs to be removed. We also don't want rat carcasses in our wells. Because wells with rat carcasses in the water are contaminated," he stressed.
