PBM to contest 14 seats in Parliament, state seats in GE15
PASIR GUDANG - Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) will contest seven Parliamentary and seven state assembly seats in the 15th General Election (GE15).
PBM's President Designate Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin said the 14 seats were won by the party's representatives in GE14 before joining PBM.
"Among them are the Ampang and Tebrau parliamentary seats. We are confident (PBM candidates) will win (in GE15). This is based on the response received through the nationwide tour.
"The people are aware of us (some of them) have been MPs for a long time," she said after an event at Lian Hua San Thai Zhi Temple, Taman Kota Masai today.
Also present were Tebrau MP Steven Choong Shiau Yoon who is also the senior vice-president of PBM and Johor PBM chief.
Zuraida said although PBM is a new and small party, it can be considered strong due as it is supported by experienced representatives. But it needs a political coalition for GE15, she said.
The Ampang MP added that this is because PBM needs to be part of the federal government that will be formed after GE15.
When asked about PBM's decision to go solo in GE15 if Barisan Nasional (BN) rejects the application to join the political coalition, she said the matter is still too early to decide.
"I don't want to make a decision based on that view (of going solo) because when the time comes we will make a decision," she said.
Last month, the media reported that BN Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi revealed that six parties had already applied to join BN.
However, the Umno President was reported to have said that the decision will only be made at the BN Supreme Council meeting.
