SHAH ALAM - Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Election Committee’s (JPP) Chairman Dr Zaliha Mustapa denies the claims that the re-election in 53 branches of the party needs to be done.

She stated that the news regarding the matter was false.

"It was a chain from a social media posting that I describe as irresponsible and was released on purpose as a provocation.

"It is impossible for me as the PKR’s JPP Chairman not to be informed in advance from the Secretary-General's Office if there was truly a letter from the Registrar of Society (RoS) regarding the matter.

"I myself was in the Committee managing the few issues raised by the RoS regarding the election of parties recently," she said in a statement on Friday.

It was reported that a re-election would be done for over 50 PKR branches throughout the country, especially in Gombak and Ampang, Selangor as the result was deemed invalid.

On that note, Zaliha asked for PKR members to be calm, not act on any speculations and to only receive news from authentic sources.
