Indonesian military aircraft crashes during training in Madura Strait
JAKARTA - A G-36 Bonanza T-2503 training aircraft belonging to the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) crashed in the sea of Madura Strait, East Java.
The exact location of the crash that occurred on Wednesday around 9.30am West Indonesia time has been found, while the fate of the pilot and his assistant has not been ascertained.
The aircraft lost contact 10 minutes after taking off at 8.45am to carry out an air defence exercise, according to a TNI AL statement.
According to local media report, quoting the commander of naval aviation, the process of evacuating the plane, which is at a depth of 15 meters below the sea, is being carried out.
Seven warships and marine commando divers were deployed to the location.
