TELUK INTAN - Veteran singer Datuk M Daud Kilau is reported to be in a critical condition after experiencing breathing difficulties on Wednesday night.

The 84-year old was sent to the Teluk Intan Hospital around midnight for treatment and was now in a semi-conscious state.

His son Ahmad Zaini, 51, said his father was still under observation and needed ventilator support.

"Doctors informed the family that Datuk (M Daud Kilau) is in a critical condition with pneumonia.

"The family has given permission for the doctor to perform CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and insert a tube to assist his breathing," they told reporters here on Thursday.

The singer nicknamed Raja Gelek Malaysia had undergone an angioplasty surgery at the Kuala Lumpur National Heart Institute (IJN) two years ago.

In June, when met by reporters, the singer of popular song "Cek Mek Molek" said he still wanted to continue entertaining his fans, but he was forced to let it go due to health issues.

The last time he had been on stage was six years ago and afterwards he was no longer active even though he received invitations to perform.
