SEMPORNA - Police identifies the body of a woman found near the junction at Kampung Batu here on Sunday, died due to a wild dog attack.

The local 29-year old woman was found bleeding with multiple bite marks from the wild animal.

Semporna district police chief Superintendent Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the matter was confirmed through the autopsy process done by staff at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (HQE), Kota Kinabalu.

"Police received the information from the public regarding the discovery of the woman's body that was seen laying down at 8am on Sunday.

"Early investigation results reveals the victim had multiple animal bite marks on the back of her body, thighs and right arm suspected to be from the wild dog bites," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

He said the woman's body was then brought to HQE for an autopsy.

"The forensic medical specialist then verified the cause of death was due to the massive bleeding brought by the animal bite and there were no criminal elements.

"The case is classified as a sudden death and the body has been claimed by her heir. However, any information regarding this incident can be channeled through Inspector Mustapha Abdul Majid on the line 08-9782020," he said.

Farhan advised the public to report to the Semporna District Council (MDS) if they are affected by the presence of wild dogs that are plentiful around the district.
