PKR: Is Zainab’s role equivalent to Jho Low?
MOHAMMAD KHAIRIL ASHRAF MOHD KHALIDPUTRAJAYA - Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) today questions whether Zainab Mohd Salleh plays the same role in the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) project as fugitive businessman Jho Low did in 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) case.
PKR Strategic Director Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir demanded for Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Special Functions) Datuk Dr Abd Latiff Ahmad to answer the question as the individual named Zainab was not known by many.
“We do not know the individual who has still not appeared and why her identity was being protected,” he told reporters after a report was lodged to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) here earlier.
Kedah PKR Communications Director Aizuddin Ariffin made the report on the LCS project.
Previously, Latiff denied that the individual named Zainab allegedly involved in the LCS scandal was his wife.
Latiff lodged a police report against PKR Deputy President Rafizi Ramli who first revealed the matter.
Akmal, who is the Johor Bahru MP also questioned Latiff why he persisted on this issue up to the point that there was a police report lodged against Rafizi.
"Why not come clean regarding her identity? I am sure Rafizi never met or even known Zainab.
"If we look at the records in the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) it is proven that Zainab and Latiff were in the same company and Latiff also gave his shares to Zainab.
“Zainab's identity should no longer be protected.
"If it is true Latiff wants to deny it, bring Zainab out. Show it to the public. Don't let Jho Low situation repeat until manage to escape,” he claimed.
Nasrullah also urged the Mersing MP to make a public declaration of assets.
"I checked on the MACC website and his name is there as someone who has declared assets, but there are no details," he stated.
He said the declared assets included records of holdings in business, expenses and income.
Nasrullah said there were two individuals that could pressure Latiff to declare his assets openly which were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
"If it is true Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri wants to settle the issue, he needs to pressure Latiff to declare his assets openly.
"The second individual with the power for Latiff (to declare assets) is PN Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin," he said.
