Teen girl followed, almost grabbed by man
AMPANG - A man allegedly attempted to grab a girl after following her at a flat in Jalan Dagang, Taman Dagang, here, on Saturday.
The 32-year-old man was arrested after the victim contacted and asked for help from her sister’s fiancé before the man was handed over to the police.
Ampang Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Farouk Eshak said in the 3.45pm incident, the man had allegedly tailed the 17-year-old girl from the flat’s parking area towards the stairs to her sister’s house.
“The suspect had followed the victim closely and attempted to grab the victim. The girl however, managed to escape.
“The suspect then created a disturbance in front of the sister’s home,” he said in a statement on Monday.
He said the victim contacted the sister’s fiancé to ask for help.
“The suspect was held before being handed over to the police.
“A background check revealed the suspect had one past record relating to drugs,” he said.
He said the man was remanded for four days for further investigations.
“The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955,” he said.
