KUALA SELANGOR - A total of 13 locations in the Kuala Selangor district were identified as at risk of flooding due to the high tide phenomenon which is forecasted to occur for three days starting September 9.

Kuala Selangor District Disaster Committee Chairman Mohd Raiz Radzuan said among the locations were Ijok, Jeram, Tanjong Karang and Parit 4 Sekinchan.

He said the areas had a high potential for flooding if continuous rainfall collided with the large tide phenomenon.

"We and various other agencies are fully prepared for any eventuality, especially in the current uncertain weather," he said when met at the Merdeka Ride and Kibar Jalur Gemilang programme at Puncak Alam here on Wednesday.

Raiz, who is also the Kuala Selangor District Officer, said all the committees involved including the village chief would conduct 24 hours of monitoring from time to time during the three days of the phenomenon.

He said the preparedness aspect covered logistics and rescue assets as well as the evacuation of flood victims.

He said a total of six locations in Jeram had the potential for flooding due to the high tide phenomenon.

"The areas involved are Tambak Jawa, Pantai Remis, Pantai Jeram, Kampung Sungai Janggut, Kampung Sungai Sembilang and Pekan Sungai Buloh," said Mohd Raiz.
