Married couple dies in an accident in Gopeng

GOPENG - A married couple dies after their vehicle crashes at Kilometre 292.4 of the North-South Highway here on Wednesday.

In the incident which took place at about midnight, Tsia Kwai Weng, 61 and his wife Hooi Lai Kwean, 53 succumbed due to the injuries suffered.

Kampar District Police Chief Superintendent Mohamed Nazri Daud said the police received a report on the accident which involved a Perodua Myvi.

"The driver suffered severe injuries and was brought to the Ipoh Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) for further treatments

"The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene and the body was brought to Kampar Hospital for an autopsy," he said here on Thursday.

He said the victim who was receiving treatment had breathed his last at 5.40 am while receiving treatments.

"The body was brought to HRPB Forensic Department. The autopsy for both victims will be done this morning.

"The cause of the accident is still under investigations and the case is classified following Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.
