Investigation result of Adib's death to be tabled in September
PUTRAJAYA - The Special Committee investigation report of the death of a fireman, Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim is expected to be tabled to the Cabinet, this September.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliamentary and Law) Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the government had received the report last Tuesday.
"The report prepared had considered the perspectives and views from different specialists that were assigned by the government representatives, departments and agencies related,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Wan Junaidi who is also the committee chairman said they had implemented various initiatives to identify the cause of death, interview sessions with witnesses, and examination of investigative documents.
“In addition, a reconstruction session of the incident was also held with all related agencies to stimulate the incident based on the closed-circuit television (CCTV), video recordings and statements from witnesses to the incident,” he said.
He said the government also hoped that the report would answer the questions raised by the public regarding the incident.
“The government also hopes that this report can be used as a guide to prevent incidents like this from happening again in the future,” he said.
Adib, 26, passed away at the National Heart Institute on Dec 17, 2018, after 21 days of fighting for his life after the riots in front of the Sri Maha Mariamman temple, in USJ 25, Subang Jaya.
On Sept 27, 2019, Coroner Rofiah Mohamad ruled that the cause of Adib’s death was the result of criminal acts by two or more unknown individuals.
