MACC arrests assistant district education officer for abuse of power
SANDAKAN - The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested an assistant district education officer believed to have abused his position to appoint a company owned by his nephew for a school canteen tender, here, worth RM50,000.
The suspect who was in his 40s was arrested at the MACC Sandakan office at about 11am on Monday when he appeared to give evidence regarding the case.
A source said the suspect, who was the assistant district education officer had allegedly used his position to obtain a school canteen tender worth RM50,000 for a period of three years from December 2015 to November 2018.
Sabah MACC director Datuk S. Karunanithy when contacted, confirmed the arrest saying that the case was investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
"The suspect will be brought to the Sandakan Special Corruption Court soon," he said.
