Amanah lodges police report against Zahid
KUALA LUMPUR - Amanah has lodged a police report today over Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s purported statement during his speech at a special briefing at the World Trade Centre, on Saturday.
Amanah’s mobilisation bureau director Mohd Sany Hamzan said Zahid had in the speech allegedly insulted and defamed the country’s judicial institution, the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC), Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong following the Federal Court’s decision on former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
“A video clip of Zahid’s speech and his speech text during the briefing went viral on social media," he said at the press conference after lodging the police report over the matter at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters, here, at 11am, today.
Sany said he made the police report so that investigations could be carried out against Zahid as well as a few other individuals who spoke at the same briefing and the others who uploaded the speech and the party that organised the event.
Meanwhile, Dang Wangi district police chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Delhan Yahaya when contacted said he received a police report on both the issues.
"The case will be referred to the Bukit Aman Classified Crime Investigation Unit (D5) and the investigation papers in accordance with Section 4 (1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998," he said.
