IPOH - The Perak PKR is hopeful of winning 10 of the more than 14 state seats it aims to contest in the coming 15th General Election (GE15).

Its chairman, Chang Lih Kang said by winning the 10 seats, it would enable PKR to form the state government.

"We do hope to be able to contest for more seats than the 14 seats we contested in the last GE14. The matter will be decided by the leaders who are expected to meet this Thursday, with the final decision on the allocation of seats and candidates to be finalised in a month or two," said the Teja State Assemblyman, who is also Tanjung Malim Member of Parliament at a press conference today.

In GE14, Perak PKR competed for 14 state seats and won four of them, namely Kuala Kurau, Teja, Simpang Pulai and Hulu Kinta.

For the parliamentary seats, PKR Perak won in three constituencies out of five it contested and they are Tanjung Malim, Sungai Siput and Gopeng.

There are 59 state constituencies and 24 parliamentary seats in Perak.

At the press conference, Chang, who is also PKR vice-president and was appointed as the Perak PKR chairman last Aug 11, introduced the new lineup of the state PKR leadership for the 2022-2025 session. - BERNAMA
